Thufa
Þúfa is a serene, grassy art installation with a traditional fish-drying shed on top, offering panoramic views of Reykjavík. We'll have a 10-15 minute stop here with the guide for a brief climb and reflection.
10 minutes
3
Stýrimannastígur
We drive into the old west side of Reykjavík, navigating its cozy streets. This charming area features historic houses with colorful facades, reflecting traditional Icelandic architecture. The blend of old-world charm and vibrant local culture makes this neighborhood truly unique as we explore.
4
Austurvollur Square
Next, we drive to Austurvöllur, a central square in Reykjavík. Here, we'll explore the open space and admire the statues, including the prominent statue of Jón Sigurðsson, a leader in Iceland's independence movement. The square is a lively gathering spot, surrounded by important buildings like the Parliament House and various cafes, capturing the heart of the city's political and social life.
5
Skothúsvegur
We'll now head up to Þingholtin, a picturesque neighborhood in Reykjavík known for its charming streets and historic buildings. This area provides a glimpse into the city's architectural heritage, showcasing well-preserved houses from different eras. It's a tranquil escape just a short drive from the bustling city center, offering a chance to appreciate Reykjavík's distinctive charm from the comfort of our vehicle.
6
Hallgrimskirkja
We'll make a 10-15 minute stop at Hallgrímskirkja, Reykjavík's iconic church and a masterpiece of Icelandic architecture. This allows for a chance to admire its distinctive design, which draws inspiration from Iceland's natural landscapes. From its observation tower, you can take in sweeping views of the city, offering a perfect opportunity to appreciate both the cultural significance and stunning panoramic vistas that Hallgrímskirkja offers. Since this is the longer private tour, you can opt for a longer stop.

Instead of stopping at Hallgrímskirkja, we have the option to continue our drive to Perlan for a visit. Perlan, meaning "The Pearl" in Icelandic, is a striking glass-domed landmark perched atop Reykjavík’s hot water storage tanks. Here, you can explore interactive exhibitions, take in breathtaking panoramic views from the observation deck, and even dine at the revolving restaurant. It’s a truly memorable experience that combines culture, architecture, and nature. And since this is the longer private tour, you can choose to include Perlan in addition to the Hallgrímskirkja stop for a more enriched experience.
