Mechrey Floating Village is a traditional community of about 2,000 residents living on the northern edge of Tonle Sap Lake, located roughly 20 to 25 km (a 30-minute drive) southeast of Siem Reap, Cambodia. It serves as a quieter, less-crowded alternative to Chong Kneas, offering boat excursions past floating houses built on bamboo rafts or metal barrels, a floating school, local markets, a crocodile farm, and access points toward the Prek Toal bird sanctuary.

Prek Toal Bird Sanctuary is Southeast Asia's single most important breeding ground for globally threatened waterbirds. Situated at the northwestern tip of the Tonle Sap Lake within a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, this 31,282-hectare protected wetland harbors over 150 bird species. It serves as a vital global stronghold for critically rare, large-winged birds that have been driven near extinction elsewhere.
