Chandni Chowk
Chandni Chowk is a great place for the feel of the medieval bazaars of India! It was built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan as part of his new capital Shahjahanabad. . It was initially shaped as a square at the centre of which was a pool that shimmered in the moonlight which is what the market is named after. The shops around the bazaar were arranged in a half moon pattern around the square. Legend has it that Shah Jahan had Chandni Chowk built so that his daughter Jahan Ara could buy whatever she wanted!
Today it is the largest wholesale market in Asia. This market is also famous for affordable fashion covering daily-wear sarees to bridal sarees, suits and lehengas.
