Jenny, a historian by education, guides you respectfully through the granite quarry, the "Stairs of Death" and the national memorials, giving context that turns a heavy place into an essential lesson. We take this part slowly and quietly.
In the afternoon the landscape changes completely as we climb to the Kehlsteinhaus — the Eagle's Nest. Pass through the marble-lined tunnel, ride the original brass elevator 124 metres up through solid rock, and step ou...
