The Perdicaris Park, also known as the Rmilat Forest and formerly as Villa Aidonia or Place of the Nightingales, is a public park covering 70 hectares in the Rmilat neighborhood of Tangier, Morocco. It is located on the northern slopes of the Jebel Kebir hill facing the Strait of Gibraltar, between the Cape Spartel reserve to its west and the Jebel Kebir Royal Palace to its east. It is named after Greek-American notable Ion Hanford Perdicaris, who created it in the 1870s and was kidnapped there in the mid-1904 Perdicaris Incident. Now this park is popular for picnics, exercising & panoramic sea views from its hilly hiking trails.

Nestled within the historic walls of the Kasbah of Tangier, the Kasbah Museum of Mediterranean Cultures is one of the city’s most important cultural landmarks. Housed in the former Dar el Makhzen, the Sultan’s palace dating back to the 17th century, the museum offers a fascinating journey through the rich history of Tangier and the Mediterranean region.
Visitors can explore an impressive collection of archaeological artifacts, Roman mosaics, Islamic art, ceramics, manuscripts, coins, traditional textiles, and decorative objects that illustrate centuries of cultural exchange between Africa, Europe, and the Middle East. The exhibits trace the region’s history from prehistoric times through the Phoenician, Roman, Arab-Islamic, and modern eras.
The palace itself is a masterpiece of Moroccan architecture, featuring elegant courtyards, intricately carved wooden ceilings, colorful zellige tilework, and beautifully landscaped Andalusian gardens.

Caves of Hercules
The Caves of Hercules are one of Tangier’s most iconic natural and historical attractions, located just a few kilometers west of the city near Cape Spartel, where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Mediterranean Sea.
Steeped in mythology, the caves are traditionally associated with the legendary hero Heracles (Hercules in Roman mythology). According to legend, Hercules rested here after completing his Twelve Labors before crossing the Strait of Gibraltar. The caves are also linked to the mythical creation of the Strait, said to have been opened by Hercules to connect the Atlantic Ocean with the Mediterranean Sea.
Inside, visitors can admire impressive limestone chambers, naturally sculpted rock formations, and passages that have been shaped over thousands of years by the sea. One of the cave’s most famous features is the sea-facing opening, whose silhouette remarkably resembles the map of Africa. This unique formation has become a symbol of Tangier and one of the most photographed landmark
