Panauti Museum
The Private Half Day Panauti Tour takes you to a little-visited, but a truly amazing collection of temples in the Kathmandu Valley. Located near the southeastern hills that surround the Valley, there are two rivers that come together at Panauti. According to Hindu holy men, there is a third underground river that comes to join the other two rivers, with connections to the Sacred Ganges River in India. The mixing of the waters creates the holiest place. You can also visit a beautiful museum in panauti where you can see many old items like musical instruments, utensils, and arts used by ancient Newari people.

Indreshwar Mahadev Temple
Panauti has been under consideration to become the 8th UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Kathmandu Valley. Its unique temples, created by Newari craftsmen as their place of worship are built compactly. There are a variety of temples with their wonderful carvings situated on both sides of the rivers.
Here you can take time to look closely at the art, including unique murals dating back centuries. Because it is not yet a UNESCO World Heritage Sites, you will not see many visitors. Instead, it is the local people coming to offer puja (worship) in moments of sacredness. The worship here is truly reflective of the Newari people who call this place home.
Your professional, government licensed city guide will be able to explain the history of Panauti as well as the significance of each of the temples. Sit under a sacred tree and contemplate the spirituality that will touch the soul. Breath in the crisp air free from the pollution that lingers over the more populated areas of the Kathmandu Valley. You will not want to leave when your time is up because of the blessings you may receive.
It’s a wonderful half-day, with a private car to take you from your hotel to Panauti and back again. The Panauti Day Tour is a nice add on experience to any trip to the Kathmandu Valley.
