1
Piazzale Michelangelo
It can be reached by walking about 200 meters.
One of the most beloved stops on the tour is Piazzale Michelangelo, Florence’s most famous panoramic viewpoint. From here, you can admire a breathtaking view of the entire city: the Duomo, Ponte Vecchio, Palazzo Vecchio, and the Arno River all unfold before your eyes in an unforgettable scene.
It’s the perfect moment to take postcard-worthy photos and enjoy a moment of relaxation. The driver will share interesting facts about the square, its 19th-century architecture, and the iconic bronze replica of Michelangelo’s David that stands proudly on the terrace.

INAF Arcetri Astrophysical Observatory
From the highest point of the route, a charming panorama unfolds before us: the gentle hills of Arcetri, dotted with cypress trees, historic villas, and vineyards. Among them stands out the Arcetri Astrophysical Observatory, one of the symbolic places of Italian science, built near the house where Galileo Galilei spent the final years of his life.

Arcetri
Continuing toward the hills of Arcetri, we reach one of the most fascinating and lesser-known places in Florence. In front of us stands the Arcetri Astrophysical Observatory, surrounded by greenery and symbolizing Florence’s deep scientific tradition.
Just below, nestled among cypress and olive trees, lies Villa Il Gioiello, where Galileo Galilei spent the final years of his life under house arrest. Here, surrounded by silence and nature, he continued to study the stars and write some of his most important works.
The view stretches over harmonious hills dotted with villas, vineyards, and farmhouses — this is the most authentic Tuscany, where history, science, and landscape blend in perfect harmony.

Villa del Poggio Imperiale
Overlooking the hills south of Florence, Villa del Poggio Imperiale is a majestic historic residence that once housed the Grand Duchesses of Tuscany and later the Lorraine princesses. Surrounded by elegant gardens and offering extraordinary views of the city, it stands as one of the finest examples of late Renaissance and Neoclassical architecture.
Since 2013, it has been part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site as an extension of Florence’s historic center, recognized for its outstanding cultural and landscape value. Today, it is home to the prestigious “Machiavelli International High School”, yet it retains all of its regal charm.
A hidden gem away from mass tourism — rich in history, art, and nobility — it’s the perfect stop for a scenic and cultural break beyond the traditional routes.

Porta Romana
Porta Romana is one of the ancient gateways to the city of Florence, located along the historic road that once led to Rome. Built in 1326, it is the only Florentine gate that still preserves its original massive wooden doors, a rare testimony to the city’s medieval defenses.
Here, you can still see a long stretch of the 14th-century walls that once surrounded and protected the entire historic center. Walking — or passing through by golf cart — in this area feels like stepping back in time, among towers, bastions, and ancient entry roads.
Today, Porta Romana also serves as a gateway between the city and the hills: from here, tree-lined avenues lead to Boboli Gardens, Poggio Imperiale, and the Chianti countryside. It’s a place where history meets landscape, marking the perfect balance between urban life and nature.

Basilica San Miniato al Monte
One of the most beautiful and peaceful places in Florence, the Basilica of San Miniato al Monte sits on a hill overlooking the city. Dating back to the 11th century, it is one of the finest examples of Romanesque architecture in Tuscany, with its striking green and white marble façade. From the square in front of the church, visitors can enjoy one of the most breathtaking panoramic views of Florence, often less crowded than nearby viewpoints. This stop offers the perfect moment to admire the city skyline, take photos, and experience a quieter, more authentic side of Florence.
