Villa Escudero is truly a native experience. Founded by Don Placido Escudero in 1872, it was originally a sugar cane plantation that was later converted to a coconut farm. It stretches over 800 hectares of working coconut plantation. The hacienda is located 10 kilometres south of the city of San Pablo in the Laguna Province. The private museum displays an absorbing collection of historic, religious and cultural artifacts spanning pre-Spanish times to World War II years. The site is also famous for having the first working hydroelectric plant in the Philippines to supply the desiccated coconut factory and the plantation house. A sightseeing tour aboard a cart driven by a water buffalo reveals the growing, harvesting and processing stages of coconut cultivation and takes riders to manmade waterfalls. Drop off at the port after the tour.
