Vienna
About
From mid-November to New Year's Eve, Vienna’s prettiest squares transform into magical Christmas markets. The generously illuminated monumental buildings along the Ring make a fabulous backdrop and the aroma of Christmas bakery items and hot punch creates a pre-Christmas atmosphere. Snack on cream-filled pastries, candied fruit, roasted chestnuts, and Weihnachtspunsch (a spiced "Christmas punch" of wine, brandy, or schnapps sweetened with warm fruit juices).
Located on almost every corner of the city, there’s a wealth of market huts to browse with the largest marker in front of the impressive City Hall.

Itinerary
1
Karlskirche
The Art Mart in front of spectacularly illuminated St. Charles’ church is full of crafted gifts, traditional foods and a playground for kids.
15 minutes
2
St. Stephen's Cathedral
St. Stephen’s Cathedral is surrounded by a market that features typical Viennese things like snow-globes. The fragrances of Christmas are all around.
15 minutes
3
Graben and Kohlmarkt
Kohlmarkt and Graben are part of Vienna’s “Golden Quarter”. The cities most famous coffee-roster “Julius Meinl” and the most famous pastry maker “Demel” stand out against all the luxury shops.
4
The Hofburg
St. Michael’s Gate is the most impressive access to the Hofburg Palace, center of power for more than seven hundred years.
5
Am Hof
Here the iconic “Speckstandl” stands out – sausages, hams, bacon and hearty bites and all the treasures of a smoke house.
6
Freyung
The “Old Vienna Christmas Market” at Freyung is for many the most atmospheric one in town. Surrounded by some of the most impressive family palais, the square still has the charm of an old market square.
15 minutes
7
Freyung Passage
Ferstel Passage is a kind of a “culinary biotope” offering roman style hams, a French Mediterranean bistro, chocolatier-crafted chocolates and the delights of one of the cities best Coffeehouses, “Café Central”.
8
Christmas Market on Rathausplatz
The tour ends at Vienna’s most spectacular Christmas Market which fills the whole area and park in front of illuminated City Hall. The nearby “Café Landtmann” was Sigmund Freuds favorite and still is among the best when it comes to quality and service. – You could plan dinner here!
