Aquila Private Game Reserve
Take a private and malaria-free tour of the southern Karoo semi-desert region in comfort, and begin your day with a pickup from your central Cape Town hotel. When you arrive at the reserve, you'll be greeted by your guide and game ranger, and then you'll board an open-air safari vehicle for your game drive. Learn how the so-called ‘Big Five’ - African elephants, Cape buffaloes, lions, leopards, and rhinos - got their nicknames as you keep your eyes peeled for any sign of them, as well as giraffes, hippos, and other animals. In part due to the abundance of wetlands on the Aquila Game Reserve, birds are a significant part of its appeal. Over 170 species of birds live in the park, including the endangered ‘Aquila’ Black Eagle, which gives the reserve its name.
