Lama Temple (Yonghegong)

Temple of Heaven
The Temple of Heaven, built in 1420 and covering an area of 674 acres, is the largest religious worship complex in China. It was originally used by the Ming and Qing emperors to pay homage to Heaven and pray for bountiful harvests. Today, it is a beautiful park where visitors can spend an hour or two listening to traditional singing and music, while observing locals going about their daily lives.

Summer Palace (Yiheyuan)
The Summer Palace is the largest and best-preserved surviving imperial garden in China. Once a summer retreat for emperors, this 716-acre park now serves as a retreat for tourists. Visitors can relax or stroll through ancient pavilions, mansions, temples, bridges, and the expansive lake, occasionally stopping at a shop or teahouse. As a much-loved summer retreat of the imperial families, the beautifully landscaped gardens, halls, pavilions, and corridors are harmoniously arranged around the lake and rivers.
