Pyramid of Tirana
The Pyramid of Tirana, located on Bulevardi Dëshmorët e Kombit, is an iconic and somewhat controversial landmark in the city. Originally built in 1988 as a museum dedicated to Enver Hoxha, the former communist leader of Albania, the structure was designed by a team of architects, including Hoxha’s daughter and her husband. Its unique, pyramid-like shape makes it stand out in the urban landscape.
Over the years, the pyramid has undergone various transformations. After the fall of communism, it was repurposed for different uses, including a youth center and an exhibition space. However, it fell into disrepair and became a symbol of both nostalgia and neglect.
