This 16th-century coastal fortress defended Porto from maritime invasions. It's a historical landmark where visitors can observe the meeting of the Douro River and the ocean.

Matosinhos Beach
Matosinhos is celebrated for fresh seafood restaurants and vibrant maritime culture. We will pass in front on the famous Cheese Castle, fort from the 17th century, built to defend the Portuguese coastline.

Farol de Leca
Built in 1926, standing 52 meters high, this lighthouse offers spectacular Atlantic views and is a vital navigational marker at Porto’s entrance.

Praia Da Memoria
Named for the obelisk commemorating the landing of D. Pedro IV in 1832 during the Portuguese Civil War. This monument celebrates the liberal victory, making this beach a place of historical significance.

Paisagem Protegida Regional do Litoral de Vila do Conde e Reserva Ornitológica de Mindelo
We will stop at the Mindelo Natural Reserve, a sanctuary of native flora and fauna. With walking trails and excellent birdwatching opportunities, it’s a must-visit for nature lovers.

As we arrive in Vila do Conde, we’ll make a short stop at the historic Monastery of Santa Clara, now a luxurious 5-star hotel. Perched on an elevated point, this spot offers breathtaking views of the Ave River and the historic center of Vila do Conde.

Featuring over 990 arches, this impressive 18th-century aqueduct transported water to the Monastery of Santa Clara and stands as a remarkable piece of Portuguese engineering.

As we continue our journey along the coast, we arrive at the Marina of Póvoa de Varzim. This vibrant spot is perfect for boat-watching and enjoying nautical activities, with a variety of dining and shopping options nearby.

We drive past the medieval castle of Póvoa de Varzim, now in ruins, yet rich in history. This ancient structure offers a glimpse into the city’s medieval heritage and its strategic importance in the past.

Monumento a Eca de Queiroz
After lunch in Póvoa de Varzim, we’ll drive through the city, uncovering its rich historical heritage. Passing by the main square, Praça do Almada, we’ll admire the statue of the renowned poet Eça de Queiroz. Here, our guide will share some fascinating historical insights before we begin our return journey to Porto.
