Herculaneum, Pompeii’s smaller sister, is a treasure of perfectly preserved patrician villas, brickwork, mosaics, frescoes, and even ancient wood and ropes, surviving 500°C volcanic flows. After a morning among these culturally rich ruins, relax at a vineyard producing Lacryma Christi, “Tear of Christ,” with breathtaking views of Mount Vesuvius. Enjoy a leisurely lunch and wine tasting, gazing at Vesuvio as the ancient inhabitants once did.
