The Statue of Our Lady of the Dunes, which you see on your left, is far from trivial. It certainly blesses the city, but the reason for its construction is rather controversial.

You arrive on the way to the Pasteur promenade that connects Pont Neuf to Pont Saint-Cyprien. This beautiful walk allows you to return to the city center enjoying a little nature on the banks of the Clain.

Poitiers has the particularity of being able to offer you real nature breaks in the city. Two rivers cut it in 3. The Clain and the Pepper.

Right next to the town hall is the beautiful Beauce Mansion Inn. Its delicate architecture immediately arouses our curiosity and makes us want to learn a little more about it.

Here you are on the Place du Maréchal Leclerc, the main square in the centre of Poitiers! Still called Place d’Arms by some Poitevins, it was also Place Nationale at the Revolution, Place Royale at the Renaissance and Place du Point of Sale at the Middle Ages when it was the economic center of the city.

You arrive at the back of the Palace of the Counts of Poitiers, with the Maubergeon tower and the small square Joan of Arc. The statue was built on the occasion of the 500 years of its passage in Poitiers.

So, I grant you, we could have expected more impressive for the entrance to the Palais des comtes de Poitiers! Especially considering the rest of the building you could see!

The Rue des vieuxs butcheries is a fine example of a mix of modern and old architecture specific to the historic center of Poitiers. You will find here some beautiful half-timbered houses.

Stop for a moment and admire the beautiful flamboyant Gothic facade of this mansion Inn. It was built between the 15th and 16th centuries and offers a wonderful example of the best of Renaissance times.

Do you know how many replicas of the Statue of Liberty exist? The exact number is uncertain, but there are more than you can imagine!

I take the opportunity to pass by the Halles de Notre-Dame, to talk to you a little about the specialties of the region. If you came on a Saturday, you certainly have before you a large Point of Sale of local producers.

Here you are on the forecourt of Notre-Dame de la Grande church! It is THE real jewel of Poitiers (no, it is not the Futuroscope).

Here you are in front of the most imposing monument of Poitiers. The Cathedral of St. Peter and St. Paul was built on the remains of a first religious building of the 11th century.

Be careful, you arrive in front of a rare and precious building. The Baptistery of Saint John is one of the first religious monuments in Europe.

The church of Sainte-Radégonde, which you now see with its beautiful Gothic bell tower, was previously called Sainte-Marie-Out-of-Walls.

As you knew, these few stairs took you to a viewpoint encompassing most of the old town. You can see the main monuments protruding from slate roofs and red tiles.
