Pelješac is the second-largest peninsula in Croatia, located less than an hour’s drive from Dubrovnik. The region is famous for producing some of the finest red wines in the country. Thanks to a unique “triple insolation” effect—from the sun, the reflection of the sea, and the surrounding hills—grapes grown in Pelješac vineyards develop a high natural sugar content.
Many of the vineyards are situated on steep, hard-to-reach slopes where machinery cannot be used, so nearly all the work is done by hand.
