The Tenjin Matsuri, one of Japan’s three major festivals alongside Kyoto’s Gion Matsuri and Tokyo’s Kanda Matsuri, draws 1.3 million spectators each year.
With origins dating back to the 10th century, it is held annually on July 24–25. The highlight is the grand river procession with fireworks on July 25. Normally, the “Jichuruma Kougyou Boat” is reserved for affiliated members only, but this special plan allows public access. Enjoy front-row views of the breathtaking fireworks and a live dragon dance performance from Tenmangu Shrine on the boat’s stage.
