Dunrobin Castle is a stately home in Sutherland, in the Highland area of Scotland, as well as the family seat of the Earl of Sutherland, Chief of the Clan Sutherland. The décor inside the castle is truly outstanding. Their museum displays a vast collection of the trophy heads of animals shot by family members on safari, ethnographic items from around the world and an important collection of archaeological artefacts. The museum retains its Victorian-Edwardian arrangement and is housed in an 18th-century summerhouse adjoining the formal gardens. The garden also hosts a live Falcon show twice a day.

Dornoch Cathedral
Dornoch Cathedral built in 1224 is a medieval parish church serving the small town of Dornoch. As a congregation of the Church of Scotland, which is Presbyterian, the church is not the seat of a bishop but retains the name due to being, historically, the seat of the Bishop of Caithness. The cathedral’s churchyard is adjoined by Dornoch Castle, the somewhat reconstructed remains of the medieval palace of the bishops of Caithness. It was formerly a Catholic Cathedral.

Loch Fleet National Nature Reserve
Loch Fleet is a shallow, bar-built estuary with extensive sandflats and mudflats backed by saltmarsh and sand dunes. Beneath the sand dunes lies a bedrock of old Red Sandstone, overlain by shingle ridges, which extend from the western NNR boundary to the current coastline. Teaming with vast wildlife, a favourite spot for catching seals out on the sands.

Glenmorangie Distillery
The distillery is owned by The Glenmorangie Company Ltd, whose main product is the range of Glenmorangie single malt whisky. Glenmorangie is categorised as a Highland Distillery and boasts the tallest stills in Scotland. Legends tell that alcoholic beverages of one kind or another were produced in and around Tain since the Middle ages.
Enjoy a tasting of some of their fine award-winning whisky’s straight from its homelands.

Black Rock Gorge
Black Rock Gorge is a deep and narrow cleft, it was caused by rapids heavily burdened with sediment being carried upwards as part of the great post-glacial rebound over 10000 years ago. It’s very deep which is why it was chosen to be used for ten days of filming for the movie Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. A special place to us as it is situated in our own family’s clan territory.
