Then, we continue our drive through the ancient walls of the old town, known as the Medina, heading toward the Koutoubia Mosque. We then continue driving through the imperial Kasbah, making a stop at the famous Bab Agnaou gate — one of the 19 historic entrances that lead through the ramparts of Marrakech. Dating back to the 12th century during the Almohad Berber dynasty, this majestic gate once served as the main entrance to the Caliphal Kasbah, the administrative and military center of power located in the southern part of the city. Médersa Ben Youssef
Lastly, we conclude our visit with the final landmark of the day the Ben Youssef Madrasa. Once the largest Quranic school in the Medina, it now serves as a fascinating historical site. At its peak, the Ben Youssef Madrasa was the largest Islamic college in Morocco. It takes its name from the nearby Ben Youssef Mosque, founded by the Almoravid Sultan Ali ibn Yusuf (who reigned from 1106 to 1142).
Renowned as one of the most remarkable sites in the Red City, the Madrasa impresses visitors with its exquisite architecture and serene courtyards. Your guide will share rich historical insights and stories about its cultural and educational significance.
At the end of the tour, we’ll return to your accommodation, marking the end of an unforgettable day in Marrakech.
