Cathedral of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception
The idea to build it was by the governor of Mozambique Sebastiao Jose Alves in 1930’s to expand the congregation of European Christians.
It was visited by pope Joao II 1988
Due to the rapid growth of the City in the early part of the 20th century it was decided that the small churches in existence were not serving the expanding congregations and influx of European Christians
