Japan has a long-standing tradition of appreciating the beauty of shadows and subtle light. This is a special evening session where we deliberately illuminate a room with only a single traditional andon lantern, allowing guests to fully enjoy the soft, flickering atmosphere of candle-like light.
It is in this darkness that you can truly appreciate the glow of the red charcoal embers, as well as the delicate reflections of light on the tea utensils, flowers, and the wooden architecture of the room.

Take a local Keihan train (non-express) from Platform 2 at Fushimi Inari Station for 5 minutes to Sumizome Station, then walk another 5 minutes to arrive at Shizuhamo, a traditional Kyoto machiya space dedicated to tea ceremony and ikebana culture.
From the moment you step through the gate, the atmosphere feels like a journey back 100 years into old Kyoto. Especially at night, the soft light reflecting on the traditional white shoji screens, fusuma sliding doors, and earthen walls creates a uniquely tranquil and immersive atmosphere.
