Sanctuaire Yasaka
Participants will visit Yasaka Shrine, one of Kyoto’s most iconic Shinto shrines, located in the heart of the historic Gion district. During the visit, they will explore the shrine grounds while learning about its long history as a place believed to protect against illness and misfortune. Guests will see traditional Shinto architecture, including the main hall and dance pavilion, and learn about their cultural significance. The experience also includes an introduction to proper shrine etiquette, such as purification rituals and correct praying customs. In addition, participants will discover the shrine’s connection to the famous Gion Festival and enjoy time to take photos and soak in the atmosphere of one of Kyoto’s most vibrant traditional areas.

Participants will visit Chion-in, the head temple of the Jodo (Pure Land) sect of Buddhism and one of Kyoto’s most important Buddhist sites. During the visit, they will explore the spacious temple grounds and learn about the history and teachings of Pure Land Buddhism, which emphasizes salvation through faith and prayer. Guests will see the impressive Sanmon Gate, one of the largest wooden temple gates in Japan, as well as the main hall and other key structures, while gaining insight into Buddhist architecture and symbolism. Participants will stroll along Ninenzaka, a beautifully preserved historic street that captures the traditional atmosphere of old Kyoto.
