Yasaka Shrine
Yasaka Shrine is one of the most famous shrines in Kyoto, known as the site of the Gion Festival. Passing through the vermilion-lacquered Nishiro-mon gate, visitors are greeted by the main hall built in the unique Gion-zukuri style. The main deity, Susanoo-no-Mikoto, is well-known for his good luck in warding off bad luck, bringing good luck, and prospering in business. Chion-in Temple
Chion-in Temple is the head temple of the Jodo sect and one of the representative temples of Kyoto. Its greatest attraction is the Sanmon Gate, one of the largest wooden structures in Japan. This magnificent gate is 24 meters high and 50 meters wide, and is the culmination of the best architectural techniques of the Edo period. Within the precincts of the temple is the main hall “Mikado,” a national treasure, which enshrines the Amida Nyorai Buddha, and its solemn atmosphere is heartwarming.
