Located at the foot of Mount Rokko, this district became home to foreign merchants and diplomats after the Port of Kobe opened in 1868. Walking through these steep, winding streets, you will find beautifully preserved Western-style mansions like the Weathercock House and the Uroko House. This vibrant waterfront area is the face of modern Kobe. You can stroll along the mosaic-paved promenade and see the world’s first pipe-structure tower, the Kobe Port Tower.
