As we continue, you will come across the Opera house, the city's major venue for opera, ballet, and orchestral performances. It was designed by architect Heinrich Seeling and built between 1905 and 1907.

St. Nikolai Church
Next, you will visit the St. Nikolai church. It is the town's oldest building, at the Alter Markt. It is dedicated to Saint Nicholas. In the 19th century, it was remodeled in the Gothic Revival style. It was later destroyed in World War II and was rebuilt with a simpler contemporary interior.
