Festival d'Esala Perahera
L'Esala Perahera de Kandy est l'un des festivals bouddhistes les plus anciens et les plus grandioses du Sri Lanka. On y retrouve des danseurs, des jongleurs, des musiciens, des cracheurs de feu et bien d'autres. Il se déroule en Esala (juillet ou août), mois censé commémorer le premier enseignement donné par le Bouddha après son illumination. L'Esala Perahera de Kandy dure dix jours et offre diverses festivités tout au long de la journée. Le terme cinghalais « Perahera » désigne un défilé de musiciens, danseurs, chanteurs, acrobates et autres artistes.
