As Sri Lanka’s capital city and largest port, Colombo still bears many traces of its colorful colonial history. It is a great place to shop for luxury items such as the finest tea, intricate woodcarvings, Bras- and silverware, Batiks as well as locally mined precious and semi-precious stones. This tour gives you a chance to shop for traditional Sri Lankan handicrafts and high-end jewelry featuring the most beautiful Sapphires, Star rubies, topaz, garnets, citrines, and other fabulous gemstones in handmade settings. The artisan skill involved in this work is passed down from generation to generation. Each unique piece takes the sort of mastery that can only be acquired after years of training and completes your shopping spree before you return to port and ship.
