Shimamu Beach
Travelers visiting Shimamui Coast on the Shakotan Peninsula in Japan walk through a short tunnel that opens suddenly onto a dramatic ocean view. The sea appears in striking layers of deep blue and turquoise, with extremely clear water revealing rocks below the surface. Rugged cliffs drop sharply into the water, creating a powerful contrast with the bright coastline.
