Itinerary
1
Kihei
The Kihei walking tour takes participants along a one-mile oceanfront route combing beautiful views of the ocean and neighboring islands with entertaining stories of Maui's past.
Learn about the community that called this region home, the influence of the US military during WWII, the unique ahupua'a land division system used by the early Hawaiians, the tourism boom of the 60s and 70s, and so much more. Identify common trees, plants, and flowers found across the Hawaiian Islands and even review some of Maui's most famous athletes. The 90-minutes of well-researched storytelling and hilarious personal anecdotes will end with an iconic oceanfront Maui sunset.
Stories shared on the educational walk were collected first-hand through one-on-one meetings with city architects, historians, published authors, county officials, cultural advisors, and families that have lived in Kihei for multiple generations.
