Looking for a unique and easy adventure near Mt. Fuji? Mt. Houei is the perfect choice. Created by the great eruption of 1707, it is Mt. Fuji’s newest and largest crater, where visitors can walk along the rim of a real volcano. The trail begins at Fujinomiya Fifth Station and takes about one hour, making it suitable for beginners, families, and anyone curious about volcanic hiking—no special equipment required.

Gotemba Station is convenient not only for participants coming from Lake Kawaguchiko and Hakone, but also for those heading there since the busses stop there.

Mizugatsuka Park
You will transfer to a taxi or a shuttle bus from here.

富士宮口五合目
This is the entrance to the Mount Houei-zan. We will begin hiking from here.

Hoei Sanso - 6th Station
This is the mountain lodge on the way to Mount Houei-zan. We will take a rest here

Hoeizan
If you climb to the summit, you can see the magnificent view of Mount Fuji up close and strongly feel the grandeur of nature. On the opposite side, you can also enjoy a panoramic view of Suruga Bay.
The "Sand Run" is a unique way of descending Mt. Fuji, where hikers can run down a slope covered with volcanic ash and sand.
