Step through the massive torii gate at the entrance to Meiji Jingu, marking the transition from busy city streets into sacred forest. This is one of Tokyo’s most iconic spiritual gateways.

Along the shrine path, we’ll stop at the famous sake and wine barrel displays, offerings symbolising tradition, celebration, and Meiji Japan’s connection to both old customs and global influence.

At the heart of the forest lies Meiji Jingu itself, one of Tokyo’s most important Shinto shrines. We’ll explore the tranquil grounds and learn about Shinto rituals, prayer customs, and the shrine’s role in modern Japan.

Next, the atmosphere shifts completely as we enter Takeshita Street, Harajuku’s colourful hub of youth fashion, pop culture, and trending sweet treats. It’s loud, fun, and unlike anywhere else in Tokyo.

We’ll wander down Cat Street, a more relaxed and stylish backstreet filled with boutiques, cafés, and local street culture. It’s a great glimpse into Harajuku beyond the main crowds.

From there, we’ll reach Omotesando, Tokyo’s elegant tree-lined boulevard known for its architecture and high-end shopping. This area shows a more polished side of the city’s fashion and design scene.
We’ll pause at one of Harajuku’s best photo spots near the mirrored escalators, then take a short break at a rooftop café surrounded by greenery. A perfect moment to soak in the energy of the area from above.
