Your half day tour starts when we pick up you or your group from your accommodation. heading straight out to a high vantage point above Queenstown, you will gain a great overview of the city, Lake Wakatipu and the Remarkables Range. This is a chance for your guide to get to know you, your interests and your photography level. Together, you will discuss destination options based on what interests you most, the light and weather on the day. From there we can head in any one of 4 directions: West toward Glenorchy for great views of alpine lakes, mountains and waterfalls. East to take in gold mining heritage in Arrowtown, vineyards in Gibbston Valley and rugged Kawarau Gorge. North takes you high toward Coronet Peak and into wild Skippers Canyon exploring our gold history through rugged alpine landscapes. Or drive south along the shores of Lake Wakatipu skirting the base of the Remarkables Range for staggering mountain and lake vistas, waterfalls and our steam transport heritage.

Hensman Road Lookout - Wide-angle panoramas, early light on the peaks, establishing shots

Wilson Bay - Gentle curves of the shoreline, reflections, and foreground interest. Autumn foliage adds warmth; summer offers crisp blues and greens.

Bob’s Cove - Native beech forest, mossy textures, and a short hike to a stunning viewpoint. Intimate forest scenes, layered landscapes, and the opportunity for macro photography. Misty mornings in spring/autumn, vibrant greens in summer.

Lake Face Creek Waterfall - Secluded waterfall framed by native bush. Opportunity to capture water motion with ND filters, moody forest ambiance. Best flow in spring and after rain. Winter adds icy textures and contrast.

Meiklejohns Bay & Old Paradise Wharf - Weathered wharf, driftwood beach, and dramatic backdrop of Lake Wakatipu and Mt. Nichola . Afternoon light in summer creates golden rim lighting. Winter offers stark drama.

Bennett’s Bluff Lookout - One of the most iconic roadside vistas with sweeping views of Lake Wakatipu and the Humboldt Mountains.

Twelve Mile Delta - Forest trails, lake access, and cinematic history (LOTR filming location).

Mt. Creighton Scenic Reserve - Mossy beech forest with quiet trails and rich undergrowth.
