Medina of Marrakesh
We will discover the Médina of Marrakech, the historic and living heart of the city, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Founded in the 11th century, the medina is a true maze of lively alleyways, colorful souks, hidden riads, and monuments rich in history.
As we continue the visit, you will immerse yourself in the authentic atmosphere of Marrakech, between traditional craftsmanship, local life, and cultural heritage passed down through the centuries.
5
Souk Semmarine
In the souks of Marrakech, I will guide you through a maze of lively streets, where colors, smells, and sounds blend to create a unique sensory experience. You will discover artisans at work, crafting items in leather, metal, wood, and ceramics. Each market has its specialty: the spice souk, the textile souk, the jewelry souk, and many more. I will explain the commercial traditions of these historic markets and how each item tells a story. It is also a place where you can haggle and interact with the vendors—a true immersion in local culture.
6
Medersa Ben Youssef
At the Ben Youssef Madrasa, we will discover one of the oldest and most beautiful Quranic schools in Marrakech. This historic monument is an exceptional example of Islamic architecture, with its elegant curves, delicate mosaics, and finely carved woodwork. I will tell you the story of this madrasa, founded in the 14th century, which welcomed students from across North Africa to receive religious instruction. We will explore its peaceful inner courtyard, its large central courtyard, and the small cells once occupied by students. It is a place that embodies the splendor of Moroccan architecture and the importance of education in the city’s history.

7
Foundouk el Amri el al Mizane
We will make a stop at an ancient Foundouk, an emblematic place within the medina. In the past, foundouks hosted traveling merchants, their goods, and their animals, playing an essential role in the commercial life of Marrakech.
Built around a central courtyard, these buildings served as inns, storage spaces, and trading hubs. Today, some have been restored and transformed into craft workshops, preserving the commercial spirit of the Médina of Marrakech.
