Itinerary
1
Cerro Alegre
The Alegre and Concepción hills are part of the Valparaíso area, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A colorful and enchanting place, it blends Latin and European culture with a bohemian and artistic atmosphere. Taking a long walk through the area and discovering all its beauty and interesting corners is a truly romantic experience.
2
Palacio Baburizza
An Art Nouveau palace that now houses the Valparaíso Art Museum, and the entire surrounding area, is a must-see. It's located next to the old Yugoslavian viewpoint and the El Peral funicular. The area boasts numerous interesting street artist workshops and art galleries, as well as charming boutique restaurants. A delightful place to discover.
3
Paseo Gervasoni
The Gervasoni viewpoint is a charming and romantic spot in the city. It's one of the many balconies offering panoramic views of the surrounding hills. The Lapiz Lazuly shops and the city's oldest funicular are also located there.
4
Ascensor Concepcion
The oldest funicular in the city, dating back to 1883, is the Concepción funicular. Recently restored and operational, it is an iconic landmark, a place where time seems to have stood still.
5
Paseo Atkinson
Another charming spot that appears suddenly around a corner. With a distinct English influence, this viewpoint is an ideal place to enjoy the views and discover the diverse artistic offerings of local creators.
6
Iglesia Luterana de La Santa Cruz de Valparaiso
The Holy Cross Lutheran Church is a historical landmark of Valparaíso, famous for being the first Protestant church with a tower and bell tower in South America. It was built in 1897 by the German immigrant community on the picturesque Concepción Hill. Its striking green façade stands out prominently in the architectural landscape of the city's historic center.
7
Iglesia Anglicana San Pablo
The Anglican Cathedral of Saint Paul is one of the most significant historical monuments on Cerro Concepción, built in 1858 for the burgeoning British immigrant community. It is considered the first non-Catholic church built in Chile and is notable for its unique architectural design, which had to be adapted to the strict laws of the time that prohibited public worship outside of Catholicism. For this reason, the church was built without an exterior cross, tower, or bell tower, resembling from the outside a modest residential property.
