The Palacio Nacional da Pena is one of the finest tourist attractions in Portugal and exemplifies the 19th century Romanticism style of architecture. The palace is a hedonistic mix of vividly painted terraces, decorative battlements and mythological statues, all of which stand at stark contrast to the lush greens of the Parque de Pena forest.
The interior of the Pena Palace is equally as fascinating, being restored to reflect the decor in 1910, when the Portuguese nobility fled to Brazil to escape the revolution. Surrounding the Pena Palace are forested grounds, which continue the design ideals of Romanticism, with hidden pathways, mystical ornaments and stunning vistas.
In Sintra the roman and muslim remains are very present and their influence in culture is present in more than buildings. Sintra has an important landscape value, not only for its leafy mountain forest near the sea yet also for the unique species is holds and the wonderful palaces and castles disposed here.Visit the Moorish Castle, to the most famous Pena Palace.

It is classified as a National Monument, part of the Sintra Cultural Landscape, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The castle was constructed during the 8th and 9th centuries, during the period of Muslim Iberia, as the central place in a territory that was primarily agricultural, and which was necessary to protect its population

Quinta da Regaleira
Quinta da Regaleira Palace. The Gothic palace is a must visit attraction and landmark in Sintra. Visit the main building (house) which is a fusion of eccentric neo-gothic architecture and ornately carved pinnacles, but don't forget that the main attraction is the gardens.
