Open only once a year for about six weeks from early June to mid-July, when the alpine flowers are at their peak, this seasonal botanical garden offers a truly special experience. Located near the summit of Mt. Nishiyama (857m), it provides stunning views of Mt. Hakusan—one of Japan’s “Three Sacred Mountains,” along with Mt. Fuji and Mt. Tateyama.In the garden, you can admire around 50 varieties and 100,000 alpine plants in bloom. While enjoying the scenery, you can also savor a local rice ball (onigiri) bento filled with the rich flavors of the Hakusan foothills.

Shiramine
Shiramine – Important Preservation District for Traditional Buildings
Visit the Shiramine district, located in one of Japan’s heaviest snowfall regions. Here, unique architectural styles developed to withstand the harsh winter climate have been carefully preserved and passed down through generations. Designated in 2012 by Japan’s Agency for Cultural Affairs, this historic area offers a charming streetscape full of character and tradition.
