Hakone Pirate Ship Tōgendai Port
The Hakone Pirate Ship at Tōgendai Port is a popular sightseeing cruise on Lake Ashi in Hakone, offering passengers stunning views of the surrounding mountains and, on clear days, Mount Fuji. The ships are designed like grand pirate vessels, creating a fun and memorable experience while connecting Tōgendai with Moto-Hakone and Hakone-machi ports. Located next to Tōgendai Station of the Hakone Ropeway, the port is easily accessible by bus or ropeway from Hakone-Yumoto. The cruise takes about 25–40 minutes one way, with fares around ¥1,000–¥1,200, and is included in the Hakone Free Pass.

Hakone Ropeway Owakudani Station
The Hakone Ropeway is an aerial cable car system in Hakone that connects Sounzan Station to Tōgendai Station on Lake Ashi, with stops at Owakudani and Ubako. Stretching about 4 kilometers, it offers breathtaking panoramic views of the volcanic Owakudani Valley, Lake Ashi, and, on clear days, Mount Fuji. The ride takes around 30 minutes end-to-end, with each cabin carrying up to 18 passengers. It’s one of Hakone’s highlights, combining transportation with sightseeing, and is fully covered by the Hakone Free Pass, making it a convenient and scenic way to explore the region.

Owakudani is a famous volcanic valley in Hakone, created about 3,000 years ago during the eruption of Mount Hakone. Known as the “Great Boiling Valley,” it is filled with active sulfur vents, hot springs, and bubbling pools, giving it a dramatic, otherworldly landscape. Visitors can enjoy unique views of volcanic activity, taste the local specialty black eggs (Kuro-tamago) boiled in the sulfurous hot springs, and, on clear days, see spectacular views of Mount Fuji. Owakudani is also a station on the Hakone Ropeway, making it a convenient stop while traveling between Sounzan and Tōgendai.
