Green Grotto Caves The fabulous Green Grotto Caves, located in Discovery Bay, Ocho Rios, Jamaica, are one of the island’s most popular attractions. Its name was derived from the signature green algae on the walls of the cave. History states that the cave was first used by the Taino Indians for the purpose of shelter; this was made clear by the discovery of cave paintings and fragments of pottery inside the cave. Runaway slaves made it their safe haven when hiding from their masters. The Spanish used the cave as a hiding place during the British Invasion in the year 1665, and they were used by smugglers to smuggle arms to Cuba. A tunnel that led to the sand made this possible. The Jamaican government also used the cave entrance as a storeroom for rum barrels toward the end of the Second World War.

White River Tubing On our journey to the White River Tubing, you will get a chance to see some local villages of Ocho Rios. At the River Tubing site, there will be changing rooms, life jackets, restrooms, and a small snack shop available. The delight begins when you plunge into a tube outfitted with a bottom to begin your exhilarating ride through rushing rapids and crystal clear pools of spring-fed water. This will all be under a beautiful tropical canopy and lush greenery. There will be a midway stop where you will have the opportunity to take a breathtaking 10 ft. jump into the water while having your picture taken by the River Tubing staff. If not, you can relax by the riverside while drinking a nice cold Red Stripe beer or rope swing over the river. River Tubing lasts 1 hour and 15 minutes, depending on the time you spend at the midway stop. You will tube for roughly 1 mile down the White River.
