Wat Kalayanamit Varamahavihara
Your dinner cruise will pass by Wat Kalayanamit. Wat Kalayanamit is a historically significant temple that was constructed during the reign of King Rama III. The temple's highlight is the 'Grand Vihara,' which houses the revered 'Phra Buddha Trai Rattanayok' (also known as Luang Pho To), a large seated Buddha image in the Mara Vichai posture. This Buddha image is especially revered among the Chinese community, who refer to it as 'Sam Po Hud Kong' or 'Sam Po Kong.' The temple complex also includes the 'Ubosot' (ordination hall), inside of which is the Buddha image in the Pali Laiyak posture. The walls of the Ubosot are adorned with murals depicting stories from the Buddha's life and illustrating the lifestyle of local people in the past.
5
Wat Arun
Your dinner cruise will pass by Wat Arun. Wat Arun Ratchawararam Ratchawaramahawihan, commonly known as Wat Arun, is one of the most famous temples in Bangkok. It is located on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River. Both Thai and foreign tourists are fond of Wat Arun due to its beautiful and elegant prang (central tower), which is exquisitely adorned with a variety of colored glazed tiles, creating a striking and refined appearance.
6
Wat Rakhang Kositaram Woramahawihan
Your dinner cruise will pass by Wat Rakang Kositaram. Wat Rakhang Khositaram Woramahawihan is an ancient temple that dates back to the Ayutthaya period. Originally named "Wat Bang Wa Yai," it was later elevated to a royal monastery by King Taksin. The temple gained its current name, "Wat Rakhang" (Temple of the Bell), after an ancient bell was discovered within its grounds during the reign of King Rama I. Apart from its beauty, the temple is renowned for its Ubosot (ordination hall), which showcases architecture from the era of King Rama I. The Ubosot features Narayana on Garuda images on its gable and houses numerous important wall murals.
7
Somdet Phra Pinklao Bridge
Your dinner cruise will pass by Phra Pinklao Bridge. The Phra Pin Klao Bridge is a continuous prestressed concrete bridge built to alleviate traffic congestion. It was constructed with cooperation from the Japanese government, which assisted in the bridge's design and survey, as well as provided financial aid to the Thai government through a loan combined with the Thai government's budget. The bridge was royally named "Somdet Phra Pin Klao Bridge" in honor of King Pinklao, the second king in the reign of King Mongkut, as the area on the Phra Nakhon side of the bridge was once part of the Boromphiman Palace.
8
Rama VIII Bridge
Your dinner cruise will pass by Rama VII Bridge. The bridge's design and the direction of the royal monument were planned to align with the Earth's orbit around the sun. On the 21st and 22nd of December each year, at dawn, the sun rises directly in line with the center of the road on the bridge's eastern side and directly in front of the royal monument. This alignment acts like a marker, indicating the elliptical, retrograde path of the sun when viewed in a two-dimensional plane, following ancient astronomical concepts.
9
The Grand Palace
Your dinner cruise will pass by the Grand Palace and the Temple of Emerald Buddha. The Grand Palace was constructed simultaneously with the establishment of Bangkok in 1782. It is the most significant palace in the city and served both as the royal residence and the administrative center of the country. The Grand Palace comprises several exquisitely designed and intricately decorated buildings, representing a cultural heritage that Thais hold in high esteem. Additionally, the temple complex includes Wat Phra Kaew, the royal temple, which houses the Emerald Buddha, a revered Buddha image and a national treasure of Thailand.
10
Wat Phra Chetuphon
Your dinner cruise will pass by Wat Phra Chetuphon. Wat Phra Chetuphon Vimolmangklararm Rajwaramahaviharn, also known as "Wat Pho" or "The Temple of the Reclining Buddha," is the oldest and largest temple in Bangkok. It's one of the most visited temples, a must-see for tourists visiting Thailand. Located near the Grand Palace, Wat Pho is a key destination for those interested in historical tourism. The temple holds the record for the highest number of stupas in Bangkok and serves as a center for education, gathering knowledge and local wisdom.
11
King Taksin the Great Bridge
Your dinner cruise will pass by King Taksin the Great Bridge. The "Taksin Bridge" serves as a pivotal link to the Thonburi side, boasting the stunning backdrop of the Chao Phraya River, steeped in rich historical narratives. This locale is replete with significance housing not only government edifices and hotels but also upscale department stores and a multitude of conveniences seamlessly woven into the fabric of the residents' everyday lives.
