أبو الهول العظيم
انغمس في روعة هذه العجائب القديمة الآسرة، وانبهر ببراعة فنها المعماري الذي صمد أمام اختبار الزمن لآلاف السنين.
يُعد أبو الهول أحد أبرز رموز مصر القديمة، وهو مُدرج على قائمة اليونسكو للتراث العالمي. يبلغ طول التمثال حوالي ٧٣ مترًا (٢٤٠ قدمًا) وارتفاعه حوالي ٢٠ مترًا (٦٦ قدمًا). يُعتقد أنه بُني في عهد الفرعون خفرع، حوالي عام ٢٥٠٠ قبل الميلاد، مما يجعله أحد أقدم المنحوتات الأثرية المعروفة في مصر. نُحت أبو الهول من حافة واحدة من الحجر الجيري، ويُعتقد أن ملامحه تُمثل ملامح وجه الفرعون. بينما يتكون معظمه الآن من الحجر الجيري العاري.
