Itinerary
1
Sestiere San Marco
Introductory walking tour to the gondola experience
5 minutes
2
Chiesa di San Moise
Close to St. Mark's Square, opposite St. Moses Church and the Gondola Station, your guide will introduce you to the elegant and romantic world of gondolas.
3
Teatro La Fenice
Formerly one of the seven great theatres in the city, today La Fenice is the only opera house in Venice. Undoubtedly, it is a gem among European theatres and shone from its beginnings, as the best composers of the time wrote and performed here their operas, including Bellini, Donizetti and Rossini. However, it was Giuseppe Verdi who was most closely linked to La Fenice and Venetian memory.
4
Canal Grande
“The most beautiful road in the world” is how the Grand Canal is known. If you look around, what you will see is almost exactly the same as an 18th century nobleman, and before him a Renaissance courtesan, and before that even a merchant of the Middle Ages.
5
Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute
Here, as you enter the Grand Canal, you can admire the church of Madonna della Salute.
The first thing that stands out is how impressive the building is, strategically located at the entrance of the Grand Canal and facing the rest of the city in all directions, thanks to its circular shape.
Today, every November 21, the city celebrates the feast of Madonna della Salute in memory of the end of the plague.
6
Punta della Dogana
Punta della Dogana separates the Grand Canal from the Giudecca Canal. Due to its strategic location, it housed customs and salt warehouses. During the 15th century, maritime customs, formerly located near the Arsenal, was moved to the western end of the Dorsoduro neighborhood.
