Marrakech - High Atlas - Telouet - Ait Ben Haddou - Ouarzazate - Dades Valley
6 Stops
1
High Atlas Mountains
This memorable trip starts with the scenic drive from Marrakech over the Tizi-N-Tichka pass (2’260 m), where you can spot the traditional Berber villages with its inhabitants working and chatting at the roadside. We can stop in a local co-operative run by women who extract the Argan oil from the trees and discover how it is processed into cooking oil and cosmetics. You can taste and buy the products if you like.
4 hours
2
Telouet Kasbah
Continue through the breathtaking landscape to Telouet. This fortress was occupied by Thami el Glaoui before he was expelled by independence efforts. One section has unfortunately disintegrated into red sand, but you can still visit the beautiful rooms with mosaic tiles and wood carvings. Visit the Kasbah together with a local guide.
1 hour
3
Ait Ben Haddou
Shortly before the desert capital Ouarzazate, you have the opportunity to visit the famous Kasbah Aït-Ben-Haddou, the fortified clay city with its numerous ksars and kasbahs, where several famous movies such as Gladiator, Kingdom of Heaven and Prince of Persia have been shot.
1 hour
4
Taourirt Kasbah
After your lunch break in a typical restaurant in Aït-Ben-Haddou or Ouarzazate, you can visit the old kasbah of Ouarzazate named Taourirt or have a look at the movie museum just on the other side of the road.
1 hour
5
El Kelaa M'gouna
Continue along the road until Kelaa M'Gouna, the center of the Rose Valley. Here, we'll make a stop for a coffee or tea, and you have the possibility to visit one of the local women's cooperations, where you can buy beauty products of Rose water. After we drive further to the Dades Valley, where we stay overnight.
30 minutes
6
Dades Gorges
Continue your journey through the Valley of the 1'000 Kasbahs to the Dades Valley, where we stay overnight.
