Itinerary
1
Piazza Santa Croce
In the company of a local guide you will learn something of the city’s history, especially during the Renaissance period. You will see first the outside of the Church of Santa Croce, the principal Franciscan church of Florence with its wonderful frescoes.
30 minutes
2
Ponte Vecchio
Then it is on to Piazza dei Peruzzi and the Bargello Palace. A short walk will bring you to the Porcellino market and here your guide will tell you all about the Ponte Vecchio, Florence’s oldest bridge dating back to the 14th century.
30 minutes
3
Piazza della Signoria
As you meander through Florence’s streets and piazzas you come to the political centre of the city, Piazza della Signoria. On one side is the Uffizi Gallery once the home of the Great Duke’s of Florence and on the opposite side of the piazza the imposing Palazzo Vecchio, former seat of the Florentine government.
30 minutes
4
Piazza del Duomo
Then it is into the Piazza Duomo to cast your eyes upon the wonderful Cathedral with its perfectly preserved and unique marble engravings. Towering above you is Brunelleschi’s Dome; symbol of Renaissance Florence and famous for its daring design and even more challenging realization.
The Piazza Duomo is filled with interesting things to see but we will ensure you don’t miss Giotto’s bell tower, an example of 1300 architecture and the splendid Porta del Paradiso of the Baptistery.
30 minutes
5
Galleria dell'Accademia
Finally you'll reach the Accademia Gallery. No queuing: with skip-the-line entry you'll go straight to see Michelangelo’s David!
