Itinerary
1
Pershing Square
Your tour's starting point — Downtown LA's oldest public park, surrounded by historic hotels and skyscrapers. We orient here before embarking on your tour.
10 minutes
2
Bunker Hill Steps
Once a Victorian neighborhood, now home to LA's modern cultural core. We walk through Bunker Hill's transformation: old steps, new towers, and the city's most ambitious redevelopment story.
10 minutes
3
Walt Disney Concert Hall
Frank Gehry's stainless-steel masterpiece, completed in 2003 and home to the LA Philharmonic. We pause outside to take in one of the most photographed buildings in the city.
10 minutes
4
The Broad
Eli Broad's contemporary art museum, opened in 2015. We pass its honeycomb "veil" facade and explain the building's role in Grand Avenue's cultural corridor. (Museum entry not included.)
10 minutes
5
Los Angeles City Hall
Completed in 1928 and once the tallest building west of the Mississippi. Featured in films from Dragnet to L.A. Confidential. We view it from Grand Park and discuss its civic and cinematic history.
10 minutes
6
Gloria Molina Grand Park
A 12-acre civic park stretching from City Hall to the Music Center. We cross through Grand Park between the civic landmarks and Bunker Hill's cultural institutions.
10 minutes
7
Angels Flight Railway
The world's shortest railway, operating since 1901. We stop at this 298-foot funicular and explain its long, strange history. Optional $1.50 ride for guests who want to experience it.
10 minutes
8
Bradbury Building
Built in 1893, the Bradbury's iron-and-light atrium is one of the most stunning interiors in America — and a filming location for Blade Runner and 500 Days of Summer. We view the lobby (public access).
10 minutes
9
Grand Central Market
LA's iconic food hall, open since 1917 and home to more than 40 vendors. Your tour ends here so you can grab lunch on your own at your own pace. (Lunch not included in admission cost, but admission to the market is free).
