This is not a commercial winery visit or a restaurant lunch. It is a genuine invitation into a small, family-run organic vineyard in the Douro Valley, where everything happens at a human pace.
Guests experience organic wine production explained directly on the property, walking through the same vineyards where the grapes are grown and learning what organic farming truly means in practice, not just as a label. The wines tasted are produced in small quantities, expressing the character of the land rather than mass-market styles.

Please make your way directly to Quinta dos Novais, located in the village of Sande,
between Peso da Régua and Lamego. Please park behind the winery. Upon arrival, enter the property through the main gate. If needed please call us in advance for park.

The experience includes a guided visit to the property, either before or after lunch. During the visit, guests will walk through the vineyards and key areas of the estate while learning about organic viticulture, sustainable farming practices, and how the local terroir shapes the wines.
Our hosts explain what organic wine production means in practice, from vineyard management without chemical herbicides or pesticides to low-intervention winemaking. Guests will also discover the different wine styles produced on the estate, including fresh and expressive dry wines as well as Port wine, with insights into grape varieties, aging methods, and the Douro Valley’s unique character.
