The Third Tunnel
The 3rd Infiltration Tunnel
Discovered in 1978, the 3rd Tunnel is one of the most critical DMZ sites. Located just 52 km from Seoul, this 1.63 km underground passage was secretly dug by North Korea, capable of moving up to 30,000 armed soldiers per hour. Visitors can walk down through the bedrock or ride the monorail directly into the tunnel to witness real traces of modern Korean history and the Military Demarcation Line up close.
