Built in 1827–1828, the Saint-Louis Cathedral is a striking example of French colonial architecture. Its simple neoclassical façade, two square towers and bright, clear interior give it a quiet, almost Mediterranean feel.
Inside you will find :
a three-nave basilica shape with transept
plain white walls that strongly reflect the light
Galleries with metal balustrades above the aisles
a historic altar space with subtle decorations
The cathedral was extensively restored between 2018 and 2020 after years of being closed due to construction damage.

Guet N'Dar
Guet Ndar is the lively, densely populated fishing district of Saint‐Louis, a place full of colours, sounds and movement. It is located on the Langue de Barbarie, directly opposite the historic island, and is considered one of the most populous neighborhoods in the world.

Mosque
The Grande Mosquée de Saint‐Louis is one of the most striking buildings on the island and an architectural feature throughout Senegal. Built in the 19th century, it combines Islamic architecture with colonial influences, giving it a unique appearance.
Its most striking feature is the rectangular clock tower, which makes it the only mosque in the world with a tower clock. The façade is decorated in warm yellow and ochre tones, simple but full of character, and appears almost Mediterranean in sunlight.
Inside, the mosque is quiet, bright and restrained, with clean lines and an atmosphere that exudes both spirituality and historical depth.

Île Saint-Louis
The Île de Saint‐Louis is the historic heart of the city of the same name and one of the most fascinating places in West Africa. Located between the Senegal River and the Atlantic Ocean, the narrow island has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000. It was once the capital of French West Africa and still retains its distinctive colonial character.
Colonial architecture : pastel houses, wrought iron balconies, courtyards, arcades.
The famous Pont Faidherbe : the iconic bridge that connects the island to the mainland.
Lively streets : markets, small cafes, craftsmen, fishermen, a mix of peace and movement.
Cultural center : museums, churches, mosques, historical administrative buildings.
Unique atmosphere : a mixture of African vibrancy and French heritage that you won't find anywhere else.
The Île de Saint‐Louis is a vibrant open-air museum of colonial history, charming, colourful and full of timeless atmosphere.
