Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum

8:30 We departure from a starting point
First stop is the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum – a former school converted to a detention center during the Khmer Rouge. It is tough visit but important for learning about the country’s history.

Russian Market
A totally change your pace at the Russian Market (so called because a large number of Russian Expats who shopped here in the 1980’s). It is the largest market in Cambodia, where everything is sold from carvings to jewelry, clothes and souvenirs.

Enjoy buffet lunch at Tonle Bassac II restaurant or similar. (Drink order is own account)

Royal Palace
After lunch at Tonle Bassac II restaurant or similar, then proceed to the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda (Replace by National Museum if Royal Palace is closed), name for the 5,000 silver tiles that cover the pagoda’s floor, known for its collection of gold, silver, crystal and bronze Buddha statues. Then, hilltop Wat Phnom Temple is the city’s namesake. Last stop is Independence Monument, modelled on the central tower of Angkor Wat, Independence Monument was built in 1958 to commemorate the country’s independence from France in 1953. It also serves as a memorial to Cambodia’s war dead. Wreaths are laid here on national holidays. At the end of the day we transfer you back to town and drop off point at Night Market.
