Duomo
The Florence Duomo, officially known as the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, is one of the largest and most impressive examples of Renaissance architecture. Begun in the 13th century, the building is famous for its imposing dome, designed by Filippo Brunelleschi, which remains one of the largest masonry domes in the world. The cathedral is dedicated to Santa Maria del Fiore, and its marble façade, in shades of green, white, and pink, is one of the most beautiful in Italy.
The interior of the cathedral is equally grand, with beautiful stained glass windows, frescoes, and Michelangelo's famous *Pietà*. The dome offers a stunning panoramic view of Florence and is accessible to visitors who wish to climb the stairs to the top. The Duomo is part of an architectural complex that includes the Baptistery of Saint John and the Giotto's Bell Tower. Its historical and artistic significance makes the Florence Duomo an icon of the city and one of the most visited landmarks in Italy.
