The catacombs of Kom el-Shoqafa are among the most important archaeological sites in Alexandria and date back to the 2nd century AD. Opened in 2002, the Alexandrina Bibliotheca follows the tradition of Alexandria's famous ancient library. It is one of the most important cultural and scientific centres in the world and can hold millions of books.
